Hour of Code

WSD Celebrates “Hour of Code”– Computer Science Education Week is scheduled for the week of December 7th -13th. During this week, our goal is to participate in ‘Hour of Code’ with our students. The ‘Hour of Code’ is an introduction to computer science, created to make coding accessible to everyone and to demonstrate that anyone can learn the basics of coding. Teachers and students can participate in this exciting event by completing one or more of the self-guided activities provided by Code.org. There are activities for all grade levels and each lesson comes with teacher notes/support. To promote the ‘Hour of Code’, flyers will be sent to all schools the week of November 30th, tweets will be posted and reminders will be in Haiku. The Educational Technology Department created an “Hour of Code” page on the district website. Please visit the site for more information located under Educational Services and Educational Technology.
