Dear Johnson Families:
You might already be aware that Orange County has moved to the orange tier, and we are ready to have students return to campus 4 days a week for this last trimester. All current hybrid students will be moving to 4 days a week on campus. All current virtual students will remain virtual. All students will be following the new bell schedule below, and here is a summary:
Mondays would remain the same with Homeroom class from 8:15- 9:15, and teacher office hours from 9:30 – 10:45 am. The remainder of the day would be for asynchronous work just as it is now. Drive up lunches would still be available as they are currently.
All students who are in Cohort A, whether virtual or hybrid, will now attend class Tuesday- Friday mornings from 8- 11 am. Each class will remain 40 minutes in length, and we will have odd periods on Tuesday and Thursday and even periods on Wednesday and Friday. For hybrid students, there would not be any zoom classes after Monday since asynchronous work would only be assigned on Mondays. We have moved up our start time to 8 am so we can offer a 4 day a week am/ pm day for all students. Students may arrive to campus between 7:45- 8:00 am and must be picked up no later than 11:10 am. This allows us time to get ready for our afternoon B group. Lunch will again be available at the exit gates at 11 am.
If you are in Cohort B , either virtual or hybrid, you will attend class in the afternoon from 11:45 – 2:45 pm Tuesday – Friday. You will have odd periods on Tuesday and Thursday and even periods on Wednesday and Friday. Each period will be 40 minutes long. Students can arrive to campus no earlier than 11:30 am to be ready for class to start at 11:45 am, and all students must leave campus promptly at 2:45 pm and be picked up no later than 2:55 pm.
We plan to start this new schedule on Tuesday, April 27. Remember, we have parent conferences the week of April 13- 16, and students will only attend classes in the morning 8:10 – 11:33 am (A students on Tues/Wed and B students on Thurs./ Fri.) All students not in class that day must check in with their homeroom teacher from 8:00-8:10. Teachers will be meeting virtually or by phone with parents and students requiring a conference. Students need to attend the conference as well. A reminder that there is no school on Monday, April 12.
We are excited to be able to offer this increased instructional time for all students as we know that students are needing more time to grasp concepts. We are happy to answer any questions. Feel free to contact me by email or phone if you have questions.
Enjoy your Spring Break,
